ABOUT THE GAME:
Have you always wanted to BE RICH and own your own business? Now you can, at least vicariously anyway! You get to create a name for your business. You can even purchase a business upgrade for a charitable organization and have all the donations put into your bank account! This is a great time management, strategy game with a drizzle of simulation. You get to build bridges and roads!
This game is similar to the Build a Lot games with a similar interface but with a few twists. Flipping houses in this game is not as profitable unless you're patient; as you get to choose the selling price. Personally, there are some aspects of this game I like better; such as the commercial business impact on the game. Commercial businesses can bring high income when placed amongst high population especially when the special event pink star is used often.
How many people can live in one house you say? Imagine 11 people living in a two story house or 23 in a chateau! That must be the hired help, a big or extended family!
Here are some other aspects of the game:
- There are no timed levels in this game so take as long as you want. There is an expert time limit counted in days which can vary depending on an upgrade from bonus points.
- A level can be replayed by going to the map (you may have to exit to the main menu first).
- The game offers a choice to continue playing the level after it has been passed; which is fun, as it lets you understand the interactions of the game better OR just let your imagination run wild and build whatever you desire from the menu selections.
- Think you know all the goals of a level from the goal screen? Think again, some levels have added goals. Some of the added goals will appear after one/or all the goals in the goal field have been accomplished.
- The information in some of the characters speech bubbles does NOT match the game and goal information. When this occurs, the information from the speech bubbles is incorrect, the level interface information is correct.
- Houses will sell regardless of how many other properties are up for sale. The length of time it takes for a house to be sold is determined by the value of the house. If the sell price selected is higher than the value, the house takes longer to sell.
- When houses come up for sale on a level it is random and will vary upon level replay.
- A non-owned property up for sale will be taken off the market after a period of time and may come up for sale again for a different price.
- Putting decorations around businesses does NOT increase the income or value. It only increases the appearance rating.
- Putting more than one of the same decoration on a property does not increase the value or appearance value of the house; it only increases the City appearance value.
- All trophies are easily obtained by completing the level goals, except the Luxury home trophy. I've included a screenshot of a luxury home with the specifications needed to achieve this trophy at the end of this walk through
TIPS AND TRICKS:
YOUR BUSINESS and BUSINESS UPGRADES:
- Replay a level to accrue additional bonus points to acquire business upgrades faster OR play the level as quickly as possible and accrue early completion bonus points
- BUY, BUY, and BUY the business upgrades with your bonus points as soon as possible, they will benefit you greatly. I think they are all beneficial, except the VIP unless you want that luxury home trophy!
- Select donation checks from houses quickly as they will disappear and won't be added to your bank account.
- When space is limited on levels, plan workshop locations by keeping in mind the use of the workshop extended repair radius refill button (this is a business upgrade).
- Use the lightning bolt construction upgrade often to increase the speed of the construction of houses and buildings.
HOUSES; BUILDING, BUYING and SELLING:
- Build the most expensive house offered from menu selection or that you can afford first as this generates the most income.
- Build houses with the most tenants around commercial properties to boost the income of the commercial property.
- Sell house/s when extra income is needed to achieve goals.
- Purchase the least expensive house first and build up to the most expensive when all properties on level need to be bought.
- Look at the house value on the pop-up menu to see if the sale price is over inflated
- Purchase a house up for sale on a premium lot when needed to achieve a level goal as soon as possible.
- Build houses with the most tenants around commercial properties.
- When a goal for purchasing all properties is required, watch the sale price of the property compared to the value; as some sell prices are greatly inflated.
- UPGRADE, UPGRADE, UPGRADE, as this increases house value, rental income and commercial income when the house is in the commercial building radius. ALL upgrades take only 1 construction wagon.
- Houses do not generate income when repairs are needed or the property is up for sale.
- Houses do generate income when being upgraded.
- It's generally less expensive to build than to buy a house.
COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES and BUILDINGS:
- Generously build workshops near houses, especially the highest value houses as this saves money and time.
- Use commercial businesses with an attendance of 30 or more generously as they bring increased income and value to the property. The higher the attendance rating on a commercial property the higher the value, rent and the pink star bonus event income.
- Build commercial properties before houses when the attendance will be 30 or more, OR when you can build multiple houses with 30 or more tenants quickly as they generally generate more income than houses.
- The car dealership brings the most income for the investment. It has the largest attendance radius.
- Use the pink star event button often to accrue additional income.
DECORATIONS:
- Putting more than one of the same decoration on a property does not increase the value or appearance value of the house; it only increases the City appearance value.
- Use one type of each decoration you can afford and have enough space for to increase the house income and value.
- Put decorations between 2 houses for maximum effect
EXPERT TIMES NOTE: You may have to replay a level several times in order to achieve an expert time, due to the randomness of the sells of non-owned properties. Many players have indicated the challenges of this aspect of the game in forums.
Levels 1-3 Tutorials (You may want to play the tutorials to acquire bonus points to purchase upgrades.)
OTHER LEVELS (SPOILER ALERT). I've included a screen shot for each level that shows a completed level. The steps and screen shots are by no means the only way to complete a level. Steps are only guides; as there are many variables to this game. ie. how many commercial events selected, prices and times properties are for sale and when you purchase business upgrades.
Level 4: Big Horn
Goals: Own 1 shop; Hold a sale in the shop; Daily income $6,000
- Build a shop (the level makes you do this first). Place shop where indicated on screen shot for highest value and income.
- Build 2 brick houses as close to shop as possible.
- Purchase 1 brick house and upgrade
- Run a sale at the shop. You may have to wait until the pink star sale event can be activated.
