It wants to be super scary. And it does creep you out just the right amount to be really fun, but in that great B-movie horror flick kind of way. If you go back and read Liz's earlier
Howlville The Dark Past Review, you'll see she described the villains as Scooby Doo like, and she's so right. They do look like you can just pull the masks right off, and there would be Mr. Johnson who works in the garden telling you if it weren't for those pesky kids...
But that's ok... because maybe you're not into super scary. I don't need anything that's going to give me nightmares. Just ask my husband... that's not anything anyone needs around here. I still remember watching the horrible movie
The Ring, (granted that was a B-rated horror movie too) but there was just something about that little girl in the well that freaked me out, and I kept dreaming about kicking her back in for weeks.
In Howlville, you can get all your jumps and shivers without traumatic night terrors, and honestly, it's mostly because of the great job they did with the music and ambiance. You can feel the tension in the air caused by the pauses and crescendos in the music, the soft whispers in the background. It's all so deliciously spooky.
However, one thing Howlville isn't missing, is puzzles and hidden object games. There's tons of them throughout the game, so that means it's probably a good idea to hold on to the
